When I entered the small villages in the district of Tenkasi in Tamil Nadu it felt like entering a Neo-geo painting. The people have a visceral feeling about color I suppose. They were more immediate and direct than the colors in urban spaces. Even with geometry they are more intuitive and experimental than their urban counterpart. The color fields of a space describes so many other factors of that space. It is applicable for the psyche of the people too. I feel these people are more straight forward and expressive like the colors they have chosen for their spaces. These photographs are framed figments of the color fields from the rural spaces. These photographs are inspired from geometric hard edge abstraction of 1970s and Neo Geo paintings of 1990s.
